WOOF!

So, if you were a dog, what kind would you be? Or, if not you, any of your characters?

You know, generally speaking. Not that every member of each dog breed is exactly the same, any more than all Swedes are alike, or all Germans, or all Czechs, etc. This is just for grins, and not to be taken seriously.

A few examples:

Terrier -- little, clever, tenacious.

St. Bernard -- helpful, always ready to offer a drink.

Labrador -- fun and athletic.

German Shepherd -- in charge, don't-mess-with-me.

Pit Bull -- scary.

Greyhound -- fast and sleek.

English Bulldog -- ugly, snores, drools, farts, and is easily overheated.

And so on. That's by no means a complete list, so feel free to add your own. Or mix it up, say with something like a labradoodle or a cockahuahua (hey, what else would you call a cocker spaniel/chihuahua mix?)

My MC is kind of a terrier -- little, smart, and feisty. Oh, and a strawberry blonde, like this Norwich Terrier.

Me? A St. Bernard, of course. Need you even ask? ;)

Ready to play?

Sit. Speak. *pat, pat* There's a good...uh, never mind. Just have a drink and try not to over-think it.

*TG wants an English Bulldog. He claims they're adorable, steadfast, and not as gassy as you might think. I've told him he can have one after he retires, so he can follow it around with a plastic bag.

I've always thought of myself as a German Shephard, and most people I think, would agree. I'm terribly bossy, don't take any guff, and extremely protective of those I love. I also have the whole bad- legs-in-old-age thing going on now too.

I'm more of a mutt. Mixed breed with too many ingredients to name. Yeah, that fits me just fine.

Is there a dog breed that can eat or share chocolate? I could never be a dog - chocolate is poison to them.

If I were a dog, I'd be a mutt too. But, at heart...I'm a bird. And of course I'd be a unique version of a Humminghawk. *grin* Let the geneticists chew on that one. LOL!

I blogged about dogs today, too. We once had a dog that was a Chihuahua/Poodle cross. I called him a Poohuahua.

I'd be a Chow-Chow - strong willed and independent.

i tend to stay far away from dogs, so i couldn't even begin to imagine which one i'd be......

I think I would be a lab, although I'm not sure your interpretation of the lab attitude matches up with mine (based on my relationship with my own dog, Stella)...
always, always, always ready for the next meal, and prone to eating the meal of anyone else who gets distracted by the phone or the doorbell, willing to start out on a walk, but needing to potty before getting three houses away, then needing a nap before starting out again...
rolling around on the floor for anyone to come scratch my belly...Um, okay, well, almost anyone.

What? No dalmatian????

Me personally? I'd be some kind of hound that likes to snooze on the front porch all day and talks too much. Yep. That's me.

My current MC? A Papillon. Because she could definitely worry something to death.

I've always thought of myself as a Border Collie. Too smart for my own good with WAY too much energy. ;-)

Hubs is probably a corgi. Energetic, happy-go-lucky, and pleased with a belly rub and a squeaky toy.

Anne -- Human equivalent of hip dssplasia, huh? Not fun! The rest is good, though. ;)

Kelly -- Ah, a hardy mutt! The best characteristics of all the breeds. :)

Patty -- You know, that IS a problem, isn't it? Hmm. May have to reconsider this dog thing...

K-pop -- A Humminghawk? Now, that's a bird I'd dearly love to see!

Carol -- Poohuahua? I love that! And a Chow-Chow is a noble breed.

Abby -- Cheetahs are cool. I like cheetahs a lot. :)

Teri -- LOL! You are too funny. Love your Lab description.

Jessica -- Feeling spotty, are you? ;)

Trisha -- Snoozing on the porch sounds pretty good to me. And a Papillon? Cool!

Sarah -- I used to have an Irish Setter. She WAS a bit of an idiot, but soooo sweet.

Jen -- So does this make the Wookie a Border-Corgi? ;)

I'd be a dachshund. Cute and thin waisted. LOL

What kind of dog smiles too much and is always up for anything?? Let's call it the 'obnoxious dog'. :) The one whose big old tail knocks everything off the table when it comes in the house.

I'd be a greyhound. Sleeping all day then having short bursts of productivity. The perfect writer companion if you think about it.

I'd be a big clumsy mutt that slobbers all over everyone, and whose only trick would be eating.

Interesting post. =) I think I'd like to be one of those cute little white toy dogs that gets carried around in a purse all day.

Me? Irish Wolfhound. Tall, shaggy, laid back, prone to bad hips and early death, and, y'know, Irish.

I think I'm clever and tenacious, like a terrier, but I wouldn't go so far as to say little.

Linda G. said...

Jennifer -- Ha! I'd take that.

Kasie -- Nah, not obnoxious. Let's say "friendly." :)

Steph -- Oh, they are! All the greyhounds I've known are so sweet, and surprisingly calm when not running.

Susan -- Awww. Those kind of dogs are wonderful. And I happen to think eating is a fantastic trick.

Shannon -- Sounds like a good gig to me! :)

Delia -- Our neighbors have two Irish Wolfhounds, the nicest dogs you'll ever meet. :)

Dianne -- Not all terriers are teeny-tiny, so I think you're safely within the limits. :)

Hmmm...Lhasa Apso - just because it's fun to say Lhasa Apso ...and OK FINE I'm owned by two of them...

Hmm. I really don't know. I'm very faithful, maybe a Lab. Are there any dogs that are known for being really quiet? I don't talk much (believe it or not!).

Michele Shaw said...

I'm a St.Lab. Offering the drinks, but athletic. Oh, and I like to be scratched behind the ears;)

I think I would be a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. (Ironically, I have one!) They are a bit spazzy and can be a little needy in the attention department. I am a loyal friend and will bark my head off at the weird creepy neighbors.

But at the end of the day, i will shut the hell up and pass out near the one dearest to my heart!

Love reading everyone's responses!
