And the WINNER of the IN A FIX ARC is...

First of all, thank you to everyone who entered! It's extremely flattering to have real live people actually want to read my book!

(Okay, I suppose I'd be flattered if any fake dead people wanted to read In a Fix, too, but frankly I'm rather glad I wasn't contacted by any. Because that would be, yanno, creepy as hell.)

So, what I did is write every entrant's name down once for saying they wanted the ARC, again if they follow my blog, and a third time if they played along with the "What do you want Ciel to do for you?" game. (Most made me laugh, and one broke my heart. They were all awesome.)

Then I numbered all the names I wrote down, and went to Random.org to have it pick the number for me. Well, actually, TG went to Random.org, and I told him the number range, and he pressed the button, so it was even more out-of-my-hands fair. So if you didn't win, blame him.

(I was going to toss slips of numbered paper on the ground and see which one the neighbor cat...

...chewed up first, but that seemed chancy. I mean, what if the cat tried to swallow it, and choked? Then I'd have to take the time to explain to the neighbors why I killed their cat, and they probably wouldn't be sympathetic, no matter how important I think my ARC Giveaway is.)

And so, without further ado...

(Unless you'd like some more ado? Because, really, can you ever have too much ado? Ado is FUN, especially on a Monday. Because, as a rule, Mondays are kind of crappy. Hmm...does that mean Mondays need further ado-doo?)

*ahem* Sorry. Never mind all that. Try to pretend I never even said it.

Drum roll, please!

Okay, without further-further ado ...

The winner of this very ARC of IN A FIX:

IS ...

#6

Oh, wait. You don't know your numbers, do you?

Okay, the winner is ...

Kerry Schafer!!!

Kerry, if you'll email me your address at linda(dot)grimes(at)gmail(dot)com, I'll send you the ARC. And remember, if you don't like it, just pretend you never got it.;)

Those of you who didn't win, don't be crushed (ha! as if, huh?), because there is still a way to get your hands on an early reading copy. Stay tuned. Later this week I'll tell you how!

And now for today's question:

Would you rather be chased by a grizzly bear or a great white shark?

Hurray for Kerry, and I'm glad you didn't kill the neighbor's cat!

I started to answer your question, but once I got to the chomping off limbs part of my explanation, I started feeling queezy. I'm just going to stay in my house where there's not much danger of either.

On land? Definitely the shark. :-)

Guess I'll just possess my soul in patience until I get the chance to read your book. I don't do patience well... *sigh*

Congratulations Kerry.

I don't think it matters because I'm going to have a heart attack at the sight of either of them.

OMG! I won! I actually won? Maybe Monday won't be so bad after all! Which leads me to a question: does Ciel get to do what I asked? Because if so, she goes to work and I go back to bed, so I kinda need to know soon -

i think this contest was rigged. i know for a fact that if you would've involved the neighbor's cat, i had it in the bag. you see, the cat and i have an understanding...but you eschewed cat fun with pickin the winner and look what happened!

ahem...sorry about that rant. i dont know where that came from. anywho, congrats Kerry! so jealous of you right now.

and in answer to your question: great white shark, definitely. grizzlies are scary. sharks...well, i heard you can just tap em on the nose and they leave you alone. hmm *ponders* must find someone to test this theory with...cuz im certainly not doing it ;)

Congrats to Kerry!! :)

Congratulations, Kerry!

Oh, and shark, because grizzlies don't give a high holy crap if you punch them in the nose.

congrats, kerry!

hmm, a bear because i can run faster than i can swim.

Umm, shark. I think, because, I figured he's chasing me on land, and I can't outrun a bear, but I can outrun a shark.

And I'm glad I didn't win your contest because I want to spend real money on your book, and increase your sales numbers, like a big suck-up fan. Well, that and I don't think I entered, either, so it would have been weird if I won.

Congrats Kerry!

Definitely a bear. At least I could get a bear hug before I died.

Congrats to Kerry.

I think I'll go with a bear. At least I could try to climb a tree or squeeze into a tiny hole or something. With the shark I'm pretty much just bobbing around while he has lunch.

HA! "Further ado-doo."

Congrats to Kerry. That was a pretty darned good way to start HER week! Not Monday-like at all.

As for the grizzly-shark question, Abby already took the answer I originally planned on giving, so I'll just say ... I'd rather have the shark chase the grizzly.

Lol!! That was great. You always make me smile. Congratulations Kerry! Now...hmm...I am going to say a Grizzly Bear because for some weird reason I think I could bear whisper him into being my pet. :-)

YAY, Kerry!!!

Sheesh, what a question! Um...great white shark. I think with a shark I have half a chance.

There really is more to ado than just fun, isn't there?

Congrats to Kelly! Bummer for me! But I'll be sure to be here at the end of the week.

And I would definitely rather be chased by a grizzly bear. I think I heard that if you lay down and pee yourself, they just sniff you and walk away, because really, who would want to eat something that smelled like pee.

Sorry, is that too gross for the blog?

Hah! I know where she lives, I can divert her mailman.

Also, being chased by a bear is not a rhetorical question around here, so I prefer not to think about it.

Congrats Kelly!!!

For your question- I'd love to stay away from both because I can't outrun a bear I know it very well and with the sight of hungry shark coming towards me to enjoy it's snack I'll die due to a sever heart attack n I don't even know swimming.

Sierra Godfrey said...

Are you kidding me? There's no way I'd have a chance evading a great white shark. I might be able to sidestep the bear for a moment. Plus, there's no reasoning with sharks---you can't speak underwater!

Patsy said...

I'd rather be chased by the shark because the only times I'm at sea is in cruise ships and then I'm too busy drinking cocktails to get eaten.

Jessica Lemmon said...

Kerry, congrats! Eek, Linda, way to tap into my deepest darkest fears of Jaws... *shiver* I'm with Teri Anne, I could def outrun a shark if I'm on land and he isn't!

Congrats, Kerry! And I'm gonna say...bear. Because the shark thing is just too freakin scary.
