Some weeks are humpier than others...

...and this past week has been one of them. I feel kind of like this guy looks:

But I'm back home now! My travel day was...oh, crap. Trust me, you don't want to know. Let's just say it involved many, many hours, three flights, and Turbulence from Hell. Seriously. There was screaming, and it wasn't just me. Even the flight attendants let out a few squeaks. You can imagine how much I, flying-phobe that I am, enjoyed this.

(Actually, I did giggle through most of the bigger ups and downs, but I think that may have been impending hysteria.)

The good news: my mom has been moved to a medical rehab facility (they actually call it a "medical resort," which makes it sound kind of vacation-y, doesn't it?) where she'll stay until she can safely resume her normal independent lifestyle. This is a huge improvement over the hospital. She'll have a private room, and loads of help getting her strength back. Nobody expects her to have to stay there for long.

The bad news: TG's dad is going in for surgery today. He should be fine, and the hospital he's at is only ten minutes away. No air travel involved.

But it does bring to mind a comment my oldest brother made: "It's deja poo -- the feeling you've been through this sh!t before."

Um, yeah. Exactly.

Anyhoo, I'm now about to dive back into my edits, which I had to put so far on the back burner they were off the stove. Maybe even out of the kitchen. So if I'm scarce around the interwebz for a while longer, please forgive me. I haven't forsaken you (or your blogs)!

P.S. Sorry for the general lack of hilarity around this blog lately. I promise I'll think of some dirty jokes or naughty stories to share with you soon. In the meantime, if you have anything amusingly rude or irreverent you've been dying to share with me, please tell me in the comments. Don't worry if it's inappropriate. I'll probably laugh even more if it is. ;)

Happy Hump Day! (Heh. I said hump.)

Welcome home. My sympathy on that plane ride. First time I ever flew was from MD to Hawaii to meet my hubby for R&R (or I&I, as he called it ... use your imagination) and the turbulence was so bad, a couple of the stewardesses got sick. I didn't much like it (three people even got nose bleeds!)but I was so stupid, I thought that's how a flight was supposed to be. Made every one after that a piece of lemon meringue pie. Take care. Hope your father-in-law does well with his surgery, too.

I'm so glad your mom is going to be okay. Sorry about the flight. Praying for hubby's dad he does well with his surgery. Tell your brother I love the deja-poo word. Must be put in the dictionary.

I'm on blogcation until mid aug. so have a great rest of the summer.

Welcome home, Linda. so glad your mom is doing better.

i, myself, love to fly, but the worst flight i ever endured was shortly after i moved down south and decided to make a weekend trip back home. being that i bought my ticket spur of the moment, i ended up in a center seat sitting next to a 13 y/o who was flying not only for the first time ever but also ALONE. I'd just got done telling the kid how much fun flying is and theres nothing to be scared of when we hit monstrous turbulance....that lasted the whole 2.5 hour plane ride. i turned sixteen shades of green and when we finally landed, i wanted to leap off the plane, fall to my knees, and kiss the ground. that is how thankful i was for having landed in one piece.

it took me a little minute before i was ready to fly again, after that horrific journey.

Glad to hear your mother is moving to a medical resort. It does sound pleasant and relaxing. It's all in the name, isn't it?

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law, though. Deja poo indeed!

I hope you are back to your wise-crackin' self soon!

deja poo is a very accurate term indeed, so i'll continue to keep thinking healthy thoughts for all of your family members!

you didn't miss much on the interwebs, but we sure did miss you and your wisecracking self. good luck with the edits -- we'll still be here when you're all caught up.

Welcome home! I'm glad you survived the bumpy journey. But I'm sorry to hear that you're back into it all over again with your father-in-law. Fingers crossed that all goes well with him today.

You need a break! And something tall, icy and alcholic after all this...

Love the picture, glad you're back safely.

Sending best wishes to your Mum and TG's father - and remember, this is us. You don't have to apologise for not being 'on' all the time. We love you anyway :)

Oh, I had no idea about your mom. But I'm glad she's out of the hospital.

Deja poo for sure! Hoping for fast recoveries for both!

Hey Linda,

I hope mom recovers quickly! I know exactly what you're going through. My dad took ill in January and after two stints in hospitals and rehab, he went home in May. I hope she gets her strength back soon.

Prayers for TG's dad.

Jeannie

Glad to hear your mom's doing better! I'm going to have to looking to that whole medical rehab resort concept, because my poor dad has toured all the "nursing home/rehab" facilties in his area this year...he could write a tour guide!

Never worry about lacking the laughs when you're suffering from deja poo. Maybe once you're done with edits everyone will no longer need the distracting hospitals.

"Deja Poo" I need to remember and use that one! I've just returned from a trip also but mine sounds a lot more fun than yours. Sorry about the troubles. It's a rough time when parents start to have lots of health problems.

Glad your mom is squared away and you survived the flight from hell! Deja-poo is awesome and sounds like everyone else thinks it should become a *thing* too. And yes, medical resort? wtf? It does sound a bit frolicsome for what it probably is actually like, kind of like "death by misadventure" is probably not as fun as it sounds either, although I do secretly hope that's what it winds-up saying on mine cert some day, at about age 120. ;)

So glad to hear your mom is on the road to recovery and hope TG's dad comes through with flying colors as well.

If it makes you feel better, on the way to Cabo one time we hit a big warm air pocket and dropped a few thousand feet like we were on an amusement park ride. I saw someone's drink leave its cup and suspend in the air for a moment. Freaky stuff. TG they serve alcohol. Talk about a lifesaver! ;)

deja poo!! I love love love it.
Welcome back lady. I have been in your shoes with my Mom - except it was a 3 hour drive up and back, a couple times a week to the rehab facility. Not fun. *hugs*

Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. I read a few posts here and see you've been to San Antonio with your mom. I live here. It's still hot :)

Nice meeting you. I'm a new follower.

First, so sorry about your mom. I was almost totally off the grid on vaca last week. I hope she's back to her regular self soon. How stressful for all of you.

I would have screeched right along with you--despise flying!

Finally, deja poo? Clearly you're not the only brillzy kid in the fam! Love your bro for that!!!
