I'm Getting a Real Charge Out of This...

So, I'm thinking November is the ideal time to take a break from my regular blogging schedule, what with everyone being so caught up in the whole NaNoWriMo thing. Heck, I figure y'all will appreciate the break from me.

Plus, I'll get to recharge the ol' blogging batteries.

I have a few special posts lined up, and I may pop in randomly from time to time.

AND  I'll still be at The Debutante Ball every Friday, so don't think you're getting off scot-free. *grin*

The thing is, social networking, while all kinds of fun, takes a huge chunk of time. I've been neglecting my fictional world. I miss getting lost in it.

You'll still be seeing me around. Just not quite as much here for a while.

What about you guys? Do you ever take a break? Or do you power through, come hell or high water?

Enjoy your break, Linda! You deserve it, and your fictional friends need you.

I sometimes feel as if I need a blogging break. That's when I call upon various family members to do guest blogs for me, and I skip my blog visits for a week or so.

I'm right behind you. My break will start the week of Thanksgiving and go until the second week in December. I think it's almost a month. I soooo need it. and from the sound of it, so do you. I'll miss your Weds. camels but I'll see you at the Ball.

I'm going out of the country for two months as a break.

Also, doing NaNo is a great break from demands on quality and success and Smart Future-in-Publishing Decisions.

I plan on taking a break over the holidays, after my book's released and had it's little blog tour, then about Dec. 15 or so I'll post my Christmas greeting and be done for a month. I did it last year and it felt great! Enjoy your break!

Good for you! I'm taking more of a break, too. I've got Christmas shopping to do (I always do it in Nov.) Enjoy your break!

My fictional world has now fallen behind selling our house which has taken priority so I've had to get off Blogspot too. Which, of course, does not explain why I am here making comments.

Hi Linda,

You hit it on the nail, with this post, about the “huge chunk of time” social networking takes out of the real world.

Back in mid-summer I came to the conclusion I needed to scale back and focus on what was tangible and within arms length.

What I discovered was how interesting my mother is - odd as that may seem I’ve taken the time to “visit” her past with her and enjoy her tales of life, love, loss, heartache and sorrow - all mixed together and told as if I were immersed in an epic novel.

Yet...I enjoy and delight in the cyber friendships I have made, and continue to make, here in Bloggersville...so the pull can be a difficult one.

Now, through a bit of discipline and time management (still working on this one) I try to “read” and “post” twice a week - just enough to keep me in the game and on top of the wonderful sites I enjoy following...like yours!

Now...off I go...today is Mother Monday - I devote this day to my mom! (but I couldn’t resist commenting on your post)

Cheers, Jenny

Ack! It's like, every new social media tool is great, but it's another time sucker...and then when I DON'T attend to Twitter or FB or my blog, I feel guilty about THAT. And what the heck is this KLOUT thing? Never mind, I don't want to know.
So take it easy. Then I won't feel guilty if I don't check to see if you blogged every day!

We all have to take a break every now and then. I know I just took one with the family, but I may be taking another one soon just so I have time to spend on my "other" kinda writing. Blogging is fun, but yes! Very time-consuming. In the meantime, the WIP languishes.

Maybe I should take a blog break - as you say it does take up a lot of time. Trouble is, everytime I think I won't bother posting, I see another free writing contest or something else good and so have to share it. Maybe I could save them up into batches?

I'm still reading as many blogs, but right now I'm having to comment on less to keep up with other stuff.

Ha! Cute picture!

YES! I love taking blogging breaks. For a while there I was taking them the third week of every month then I stopped. I really should get back to that. It's nice to have those breaks.

I suppose you get to have a break some time. I guess. *sniff*

You deserve a break. We all do. Recharge and enjoy your time with your brain people.

Er - just don't really hook yourself up to any batteries.

Breaks are good! I took last week off from my blog. Enjoy, Linda! See you at the debs.

You deserve a break and I applaud you for taking one. But, dammit, I just got addicted to camels on hump day.
Seriously - break woman, break & write some fiction.

Sometimes I need a break to recharge and clear my mind so I can tackle my project with fresh eyes and a willing muse.

Sure!! I do take breaks, and you know it, lol!
And I really don't know how you do it--I mean to blog 3 days a week?
I barely manage 1 day a week, and I still take breaks! Hahaha!
Good luck on NaNo! <333

Gurrrllll! Imma gonna miss you!
I agree about social networking, although I enjoy blogging b/c it's the only creative writing I do.
Good luck with your fiction!!
