Share the LOVE! And, you know, the CHOCOLATE.

(Wow. A Friday post from me. Haven't seen that in a while, have you?)

But today is special. Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

Honestly? I'm kind of ambivalent about Valentine's Day. It's one of those high-pressure holidays, front-loaded with expectations. If you're half of a couple, you stress about not disappointing your other half. And if you're not, you stress about the world revolving (at least for the day) around everyone who is.

(Or you don't give a crap. That works, too.)

But be that as it may, I still want to do something. For y'all. Because I'm FEELING THE LOVE and I WANT TO SHARE!!! (And really, any holiday that involves ingesting chocolate can't be all bad, right?)

I'll bet you're feeling the same way, huh? That impulse to share? Well, I want to help you do just that.

So, I asked a composite of all my friends (represented by the image below) what she would like for Valentine's Day:

Can't make out the small print? She's saying: "What I'd really like is a sexy romp and some chocloate!"

(Guess the balloon and wine weren't enough for her.)

I says to myself, "Self, you can provide that!"

Then, not wanting to be misunderstood about the sexy romp part, I quickly added, "In book form!"

Here's the deal: If you have a friend you'd like to share the love with by sending her (or him!) a Valentine, just leave me a comment saying "I want to share the love!"

I will then choose five winners at random, and will send, to the person of their choice* a signed copy of IN A FIX along with one of the following delicious chocolate bars:

*If the person of your choice happens to be you, that's okay by me. There's nothing wrong with sharing a little love with yourself. ;)

BONUS: The winners will receive an ARC of QUICK FIX, to keep or share, as soon as I have them in my hot little hands. (When will that be? Your guess is as good as mine. But I figure it has to be earlier than Aug. 20, when it will be released in stores.)

Contest will close Monday, Feb.11, at 12 noon EST. Please spread the word!

Even if you don't want to enter (though, honestly, free chocolate for a friend? surely your friend is worth that), you can always leave a comment explaining your philosophical views on the value of boycotting such a commercial holiday.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

  5. Okay, I want to share the love. But I haven't had a date in over, well, since before The Monster was born, so I think I deserve a good book. However, I will share the chocolate.

  10. I have In A Fix and I was dreaming of who I could share the love with UNTIL you mentioned the ARC. Then I immediately went want, want, want. Guess I'll have to share the love with myself.
On the other hand, I could send the copy I have to a friend, if I won another. Yeah, that works.
I tend to be the make-fun-of-VD kind of person. Sorry.

  11. I'm with Judy. I want to share the love with myself so I can have a shot at the Quick Fix ARC. Since I have In a Fix, I'll pass this copy to a friend. As for the chocolate...well, we''ll see.

  12. I want to share the love!! I have quite a few friends who could use the love this Valentine's Day.

I'm not much of a celebrant myself, but I do tend to use it as a chance to get dinner from a restaurant so I don't have to cook!

  16. I'm reading along thinking I'll just bow out of this one, but then you went and waved Quick Fix around. And now I want to share the love. My sis-in-law needs to read In a Fix, but Quick Fix would be mine all mine.

  17. I want to share the love - but I also want to get involved in the boycotting aspect.

It's not the day I object to but the commercialisation of it. Buying something doesn't really show our love, does it? Much better to do (or even just say) something nice for the people we care about.

  18. I boycott Valentine's day on principle, but that does not stop me from indulging in chocolate :) Also, it so happens that on Feb. 14 in Bulgaria we celebrate the patron saint of wine (St. Trifon), and THAT is a holiday I very much believe in :) Also, wine and chocolate go very well together!

You are very generous to host this contest! If I win, I will keep the book for myself (because, er..., shame on me, I still have not bought it! what is wrong with me?!), but I *might* share the chocolate. If a gun is pushed against my head, etc.
